SEVEN WARRIORS
This installation was born from a residence held in China, in Fuping. The first study process focused on terracotta warriors not only as a monumental work but as a scenographic schedule and repetition model, declining this concept to the social environment encountered, in the relationship between technology and manual work, balancing the joy of archaeological discovery and the celebratory moment of his showing himself.
Studying the positioning of the statues that seem to germinate from the earth in perfect orderly rows, giving a scenographically tragic sense to the environment, dwelling on the lines of force, similar for each statue but different in terms of twist or expressiveness.
The interruption of the lines is given by the planes that naturally form the surface, and by the cracks that over time have designed a sort of natural and incisive decoration on the pieces.
"By translating everything into two-dimensional lines drawn on the projected shadow of a model of a statue, I have reached the shapes that describe my seven soldiers. The choice of white color allows us to outline the shadows with which we usually confront ourselves and binds to the support in old dark gray furnace bricks, ring of
stylistic conjunction between the archaeological discovery and the perfectly finished statues. The installation of the works is carried out in a narrow and long rectangular room, totally black like an archaeological excavation, drawn on the ground by a crack of light. "MrCorto
