bio

Architecture and Design are studies from which MrCorto (Gabriele Resmini) comes to the ceramic world. He also work twelve years in theatrical scenography, graphics and fashion.

LucaPi (Luca Pellegrino) arrives to ceramics by throwing specialization at the Municipal School of Ceramics with Master Guido Garbarino.

They begin to collaborate in Albisola in the Officina900 in 2018 joing the projects, the technique and the concepts of both.

The conceptual research of their work is based on the elaboration of the sculptural form, the simplification of the lines and the planes that make up the final figure, highlighted by monochromes.

The historical and artistic traditions of Albisola, an ancient ceramic country, become the incentivation to overcoming decoration and destructuration of the forms of the past and all they knowns around them.

mission

Simplicity, linearity, purity, the rule that brings the peace of inner certainty and at the same time the breaking of the same that describes the movement of anger and criticism.

Technically we work on the research of the earth material, focusing on the physical lightening of the work where possible, we work on the tensions and the chamottes, we mix the raw earths looking for the coating that gives the perfect neutral color on which to work only with the shapes and their own shadows dictated by light and decoded by the viewer's eye.

Rarely in the search for particular points of light or visual attraction do we use opaque crystals or white glazes.

Our work moves between the study of the form of design and contemporary paradescriptive sculpture, in two different lines that often meet working on the lathe and on the plate.

The originality of the artists' research broadly embraces the universe of meditation on form and geometric research, enhanced by the very essential choices of colour. The artists are capable of inserting themselves in an entirely original way in a very rich and glorious history, not only ceramics, which is part of international contemporary sculpture.

Matteo Zauli - Director of the Carlo Zauli Museum

Of the various works by mCLp Studio, my attention was captured by the Articolari series in which we see "interlocking" sculptures accompanied by an X-ray plate which acts as a caption defining the elements of the project. The absence of color or the work broken down into different elements could suggest an unfinished work, instead everything is made up in the creation of a work that is perfect in its joints and balances. The concept reveals itself: there is no rule that cannot be broken.

Sabina Melesi - Melesi Gallery

For the rigor of the forms that can hybridize with different materials in an interesting dialogue between substances, thus becoming a complex visual device.

Matteo Galbiati - Art critic and curator, Professor at the Santa Giulia Academy of Fine Arts, Digital web director of Espoarte

The duo presents a roundup of works that define a high-level design and executive competence. The intentions of searching for an essence of form could be a risky limit, but the designers are able to give full demonstration of how much this research commits them, leading them to good compositional and textured results. The variety of objects covers an interesting aesthetic field between design and sculpture, which is not an easy territory for experimentation. The clear-cut lines and geometric volumes used in the compositions could easily be cataloged in the field of experiments of the fifties and sixties of the concrete art movement and other geometric trends, but with respect to these references, mCLp manages to give a more current data, thanks to a mastery of production and finishing of the works that I find technically refined.

Marina Affani - Gallery "The Cloister of Contemporary Art"

mCLp Studio manages to integrate the ceramic material with the excellence of execution, poetics and research, creating new languages of space and form, of light and shadow, through works which, in an apparent simplicity, are able to tell us about our to be.

Mara DeFanti

Director and Conservator of the G. Gianetti Museum of Ceramics - Saronno (VA)

"A work of art, as such, requires having a vision, not in the mere meaning of being seen, but in the more far-sighted concept of knowing how to look far in time, beyond the usual patterns. The projects of this artistic combination they have this quality, they go beyond the concept of form, in a solution between art and design, where thought and aesthetics are accompanied by the spirit.

The simplification of lines, the play of surfaces and planes, are rewritten as an alphabet that enunciates a new language, a rule, the search for an intrinsic truth, expressed through things, in which to identify oneself.

What are the criteria for this identification? Maybe what we have inside, the spirit, or our skin, the border, or even our shadow, as others see us: they are all surfaces. In any case, in order to be complete, the choice cannot be univocal: our shadow, like our appearance, does not entirely represent our being, our spirit.

In the same way, understanding our mind without taking care of the body we are in would not give us the opportunity to experiment and test ourselves. The same shadow that accompanies us leads to the reflection of a different vision of ourselves, contiguous to our body, like an envelope that does not completely identify us.

The investigation on this theme therefore leads us to understand this vision of the artists, a research on the inside and outside: what is inside, well expressed in the Articolari project, becomes a model for the outside, and with the same reflection what is outside, the shadow and the surfaces' surfaces become an archetype in which to recognize oneself. After all, what is an object if not a skin between an inside and an outside?

But research does not stop only in identifying new forms, but in placing them, almost sacral, in a shared space, where the viewer can better understand their essence. Gabriele and Luca prepare a space where we can leave out the superfluous to enter a dimension of research of the essence, and lead us, through beauty, to ourselves. "

The union that unites artists and ceramists of the Albanian ceramic world finds once again an effective couple of young people who synergistically combine their skills to create innovative experiences, historical memories of an ancient art but at the same time project future languages.

The design skill and the manual skills are exciting and put them in an evolutionary forecast that will inevitably bring further success.

Benedetto Gaggero

Vice President of the Ceramists Association Albisola

"Hosting an exhibition as Articolari in Nove was an enriching choice both from the point of view of stylistic innovation and design, and for the technical refinement of the chosen materials: the use of particular lands, the cooking temperature and the subtle finishing engobed, they made our most expert ceramicists question, generating great amazement and esteem. "

Elena Agosti

Conservative Civic Museum of Ceramics of Nove (VI)

"Certainly a couple of complementary artists.

They base their work on shared projects that they carry out together with an almost maniacal executive precision. Observation, reworking and creative synthesis are the basis of their works that they perform personally. Their language is innovative and captivating, the result of a sure knowledge of the working processes of clays and admirably combines the figure of the artist with that of the ceramic craftsman. Their creations, the result of careful and precise work, characterized by research and experimentation with new techniques, inevitably projects them to conquer new expressive languages. "
